Brava Diva (bureavii x pachysanthum) x (brachycarpum x macabeanum)
Trade Name for Seedlings of a Rhododendron Hybrid (bureavii x pachysanthum) x (brachycarpum x macabeanum)
These plants belong to the broader group of exceptional rhododendrons called Rhodo Elita, which comprises unique rhododendrons with exceptional features, often characterized by attractive indumentum on their leaves.
Shrubs under the Brava Diva name are highly diverse because they result from the crossbreeding of four species with extremely different characteristics. Their lineage includes species with strong indumentum (bureavii and pachysanthum), a species with high frost resistance (brachycarpum), and a species with enormous leaves (macabeanum).
Brava Diva rhododendrons can have varying indumentum colors on their leaves – ranging from white-cream through silver to copper. Some plants have more intense indumentum, while others have less. They also significantly differ in growth strength, as well as the shape and size of their leaves.
Brava Diva rhododendrons are unique collector's items. Laboratory frost resistance tests have shown that they can withstand temperature drops down to -22°C without damage. In the ground, they have so far survived winters with temperatures as low as -18°C.
